Airios IVY Collection: Intelligent ventilation for you.
Designed for Airios, IVY is a collection of smart thermostats that monitor CO2, VOCs, temperature, and humidity to provide a complete view of indoor air quality. It allows precise control of temperature and fan speed, offering comfort customization by room or zone while emphasizing energy efficiency.
Product Line:
IVY Home: Main module for living areas; monitors all sensors and controls temperature and fans.
IVY Room: For bedrooms and offices; monitors key sensors and allows temperature and fan control.
IVY Sense: For secondary rooms; monitors air quality and communicates status without controlling temperature.
Process
The design of the IVY collection began with stakeholder interviews. As a white-label manufacturer, Airios sells directly to other companies, making it essential to understand their clients’ needs. We conducted interviews with key stakeholders, including Airios’ clients, to gather insights on expectations and preferences. This feedback guided our design process, ensuring the product met Airios’ standards while addressing the requirements of their diverse clientele. This collaborative approach shaped a customer-focused solution aligned with the vision of IVY.
Ideation
Through multiple sketching sessions and ideation, we developed three distinct design directions for the IVY collection, each offering unique strengths and possibilities. These directions explored different aspects of IVY’s identity and functionality, from minimalist and sleek to bold and expressive, showing how the product could integrate into modern living spaces while maintaining high performance. We then evaluated each option based on user experience, technical feasibility, sustainability, and manufacturability to identify the approach that best aligned with Airios’ goals and vision.
Mockups
During ideation, we focused on understanding IVY’s physical presence on a wall and how it would fit into various living spaces. We created simple cardboard prototypes to visualize its form, size, and placement. These low-fidelity models allowed rapid iteration, practical discussions, and feedback from team members and stakeholders. The hands-on approach provided key insights that guided the next stages of design, helping us create a smart climate thermostat collection that balances functionality, aesthetics, and seamless integration.
Concept Design
The final concept for Airios adopts a minimalist aesthetic with clean lines and sharp edges, designed to blend seamlessly with home switchgear and sockets without drawing too much attention.
The LED bar is a unifying design element that appears across the different products in the IVY collection, creating a consistent visual identity.
